Enlightenment

On a house by the sea,
in a land far away,
a sentry stood his ground.
And in his beam
was a certainty of purpose,
and enlightenment.
He was kept by a keeper,
and he answered far away prayers.
He knew not duty or devotion,
or the pain and joy of love.
He simply drew his lines of light
on a house by the sea,
in a land far away.
And I envied him.
